OFFICIAL MAX PAYNE TEXTURE PACK =============================== ----------------------------------------------------- Update April 27th, 2003 After seeing these textures sitting in our file directory forever and ever and still have yet to see ONE map that uses these, I decided to take a look and here are my findings and resolutions: ------------------------------------------------------ FIXES: 1) Kingpin textures are generally quite dark in comparisson to other games and as a result ALL these textures showed up as excessively overexposed. I used a program called irfanview [www.irfanview.com] and darkened them by correcting the gamma, I made them 50% darker and they look much MUCH better--they are still a little bit grainy (max payne uses photographs for their textures) but all and all it addes a very nice grit that fits perfectly with Kingpin. This task required me to batch-gamma correct but I still had to go folder to folder to do it. 2) All these textures had capital letters in their file names which has been known to cause errors and game crashes in some machines, I batch renamed them all to lowercase with a program called small letter friend [http://www.transsonic.com/slf.htm] and this task was very easy as it finds everything, folders and all so I could do it in one button click. 3) A very large percentage of these textures had excessively long file names which Kingpin cannot process.
