The levels were originally designed for a mod called Gladiator whose main style of gameplay is 1v1 while everyone else spectated. As each player wins a round, the game respawns the player into the next arena. So one Gladiator suited map is in essence 3-5 very small arena style maps. [DoA]IceMan's work is probably my biggest inspiration for urban style mapping and I have been enjoying his maps since 2001. Here I had several great works of his that in their current state could not be played :( The problems are as follows: Maps made for Gladiator are completely incompatible with standard DM (or any other KP mod for that matter) and Gladiator Mod is unfinished/bugged and unplayable. This is where I step in ;) The problem with Glad maps and DM is that there is nothing connecting any of the arenas and the spawns are shot. What I did was choose a few of the maps and connected them. To get the kind of flow I was looking for I had to move the maps a few times on the grid and was able to successfully connect the maps in manner I was satisfied with. Just about every texture needed realignment and all the angled brushes needed to be rebuilt. I gave the map a complete relighting and some minor retexturing/restructuring. The overall flavor and architecture has been left as is, I only built the connecting corridors/staircases.
